France Coast - Avranches to the Loire Valley

Mont-St-Michel is impressive from a distance as it can be seen for miles around. Up close though it is even more amazing. It was rebuilt in the 1200s after an earlier version was destroyed in war. Over the centuries various buildings have been added until in the 1300s, the Hundred Years War, meant that fortifications had to be built to protect the abbey.
